Vice Admiral John W. “Fozzie” Miller is founder of The Fozzie Miller Group LLC, a global national and maritime security consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. He is also an Associate Fellow at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and a Highly Qualified Expert for the Naval War College, as well as an advisor to several other organizations focused on national and maritime security issues.
In 2015, Miller retired from the U.S. Navy after serving as the Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Commander, Combined Maritime Forces, and Commander, U.S. Fifth Fleet. In addition to Fifth Fleet, Miller held numerous commands in the U.S. Navy including, fighter squadrons, ships, a carrier strike group, and the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center. After promotion to Rear Admiral, Miller spent a considerable amount of time focusing on the Middle East, serving as Deputy Commander to U.S. Naval Forces
Central Command/United States Fifth Fleet and Deputy Director, Strategy, Plans, and Policy (J5); Chief of Staff, U.S. Central Command, and Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. Fifth Fleet/Combined Maritime Forces.
He has appeared in the New York Times, Fox News, Defense News, and ABC News, among others. Vice Admiral Miller is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and a distinguished graduate from the Naval War College. He also has a master’s in International Relations from Salve Regina University. He served as a Special Assistant to the Administrator of NASA as a White House Fellow.
